Liechtenstein has its legal basis in its Hapsburg past and Swiss present.
The nature of the state, in which the Prince is entitled to dissolve an elected Parliament on a whim, is unusual. The problem with many of the officials in Liechtenstein is that they follow the traits of the population - xenophobic and often racist.
Banking secrecy and a history of thumbing their noses at the rest of the world and business communities means that the legal system is designed to protect Liechtenstein interests and citizens irrespective of moral, ethical or legal precedents, and they often find a way to make criminal cases from purely civil disputes.
If you are looking at doing business with Liechtenstein companies, or individuals, we would recommend that you ensure the legal protection of countries outside of Liechtenstein and Switzerland. If possible, set this up even if your business is being set up as a Liechtensteiner firm.
